POEMS
by
Sarah Gallant
Poems are
friends.
They lend
their rhyme and meter
to this eager
scribe,
pouring out
unannounced,
spilling
onto paper towels,
paper scraps
and bags,
or maybe
a hand or two
in ~waves~;
Ridden out,
Tunneled,
Navigated;
Pummeled
against the rocks,
and beached
upon desolate docks.
Poems acting
as compasses
guiding ghost
ships
through haunted,
sunken dimensions
of wondering
and wandering angst.
They're measures
of synthesis,
and of stars
and sea;
Signaling
signatures of places unknown,
yet somehow
remembered.
