Unresolved but Resolute
by
Sarah Gallant
She has eaten
rocks and worms
face down
to the ground, crusty
with the
best of them..
besieged
and afire with the burning sadness
such memories
bring.
Always uncomfortable
with the
rusty metallic
mouth, and the poison-sharp points of
nails beheaded
as they pierce
through the
cadaver-like calm,
hammering
like some demented darts,
yet wavering
and ever watchful so as not to
pin innocent
anyone's to the cross ;
down too
far...a sign ?
yet resolute,
driving, driven...
as breathless,
the wind whispers
"all things
shall pass".
But they
don't.
The howling
moment passes.
The emotions
and reasons, deadened and debilitated
as ears deafen,
and doors slam closed,
only recede
into the inner depths
there greeted
unsanctimoniously
by the rest
of it's vile unresolved population;
clamped in
a resonating eternal vice--
in fear of
their next
insurrectionary
resurrection.
